3 Things To Do When Purchasing A Used Air Hockey Table

Posted on: 5 September 2017

Having an air hockey table in your home can provide your friends and family members with a competitive outlet during friendly gatherings. Air hockey tables can be utilized by players of all ages and skill levels, making them the perfect addition to any family game room.

If you are thinking of investing in a used air hockey table, such as from Birmingham Vending Company,
here are three things that you should do before firing up your new table for the first time.

1. Check the blower.

Air hockey tables rely on air coming through a series of tiny holes in the surface of the table in order to smoothly transport the puck from one end to another. A blower that is powered by a compressor motor is responsible for generating the air pressure needed to send air through the holes on the surface of the table.

Before you fire up your air hockey table, be sure to check that the blower fan is functioning properly so that your table will perform as it should.

2. Clean the table.

Another important thing to do before you start using your air hockey table is to clean the surface of the table. Over time, the tiny holes that allow air from the blower fan to be pushed through to the surface can become clogged with dirt and debris. If these holes remain clogged, your table won't perform properly and you could place unnecessary strain on the compressor.

Wiping down the surface of your air hockey table with some isopropyl alcohol will ensure that the tiny holes remain unclogged and that no blemishes mar the surface of your new air hockey table.

3. Check the condition of the paddles.

Each player holds a round paddle in his or her hand while playing a game of air hockey. These paddles are used to hit the puck from one end of the table to another, and they should glide smoothly across the surface of the table when in use.

If you are purchasing a used air hockey table, be sure to check that the paddles coming with the table are equipped with a layer of felt on the bottom. This felt helps to aid in smooth movements and prevents the hard plastic of the paddles from gouging the surface of your air hockey table. Repair or replace damaged paddles prior to use to prevent them from damaging your new game table.

Taking the time to check the blower, clean the surface area, and repair any damaged paddles prior to playing your first game of air hockey will ensure that your used table functions properly well into the future.
