Is Your Baby Getting Married?

Posted on: 8 April 2018

Does it seem like just yesterday that your daughter really was a baby? The memories of things like teaching her to ride a bicycle, taking her to her first day of school, and helping her get ready for prom are probably still fresh in your mind. Now she's getting married. More than likely, you are having mixed feelings about that. On one hand, you are probably happy for her starting a new life with a man she loves. On the other hand, you realize that your world has permanently changed. It is what it is, right? Now you're focused on giving her the wedding of her dreams. From choosing a theme to arranging for wedding dance classes, here are some ideas that might help you to plan an event that your daughter will cherish for the rest of her life.

Choose a Theme - Will you be working with your daughter to plan her wedding and her wedding reception? If so, a good start would be for you to sit down with her and brain storm together.

Consider the things she's passionate about. For example, if she has loved traveling, consider having things like a tiny replica of the Eiffel Tower and Big Ben as part of the centerpieces. If she loves nature, consider having things like birds, flowers, and butterflies as part of the decor. Or, go with your culture. For example, if you are from south of the border, a Mexican theme would be perfect, using things like colorful paper flowers, Mexican candelabra, pottery birds, tiny pinatas, and bright corn husk Mexican dancing girls as you decorate.

The Entertainment - For sure plan on special dance numbers that will surprise those who attend your daughter's wedding. For instance, think of the bride and groom taking dance classes so they can start their dance with a waltz and then ending with a fabulous swing dance.

How brave are you? As parents of the bride it will probably thrill and surprise your daughter and your guests if they see you all of a sudden do the Charleston together. Do the bridesmaids want to do a funny dance number dedicated to the bride and groom? A father and daughter dance to a song like The Way You Look Tonight will more than likely be the highlight of the event. Dance classes aren't expensive, and professional instructors can make any of you who take the classes look like professionals.
